All About Film
From a young age, I have always been drawn to film. Whether that be watching it, creating my own short videos, or being able to work on large projects. The first sign that I was going to work with film for the rest of my life was my love of physical DVDs. My collection soars over 300+ physical copies of my favorite movies and shows, which has become outdated with digital streaming. I aspire to one day have my name on some of those physical copies and to add my future projects to my growing collection.

If there’s specific resistance to women making movies, I just choose to ignore that as an obstacle for two reasons: I can’t change my gender, and I refuse to stop making movies.

Hello
My name is Sailor Sorensen
As a double major - of Media Production and Cinema Studies, I am constantly surrounded by new media. While immersed in the classroom, I also try to find new media outside of class - whether that is through YouTube, new movies in theaters, or Snapchat mini stories. One thing I enjoy doing most is trying new things, which my education has allowed me to do. Throughout my classes, I am pushed to try new methods outside of what I am comfortable with. Two of my favorite projects came from pushing myself. I made a small documentary in my freshman year about sorority life, and pushed myself to get outside of my comfort zone of working solo. My only regret is that I didn't make it longer! My second favorite piece I made my sophomore year. This piece was an interpretation of my classmates dream; one where I had to make both disorienting and dreamlike. While I was confined to the restraints of my room, I got crafty and used my closet and a blanket to give the hazy effects that recalling dreams seems to have. While these are just two of my projects, I have added much more to my portfolio, each with a small description of why it was made. If you’d like to learn more about my work, interests, or past projects, get in touch today!
